What is the difference between rayon and rayon Challis?

Whats tbe difference between rayon fabric and challis?

Challis is a type of fabric while rayon is the fiber content used to make the fabric.

Rayon is a man made fiber that can resemble cotton fibers.

Challis can also be made of silk, wool, or cotton fibers.

Think of different fabrics this way:

Stew can be made of: fish, vegetables, beef, pork, etc.

Challis (the stew) can be made of wool, rayon, blends, polys, etc.

Corduroy can be made of cotton, rayon, poly, blends, etc.

crepe de chine can be made from silk or poly, etc. Crepes tend to be a scrunchy, fluid fabric. So it's the weave that is suggested.

So the weave is different from the fiber.
